December 2020 Guardian Angels

Safe Life Defense - Personal protective equipment

Happy Holidays! This December we’re donating Concealable Mulit-Threat Vests in Level IIIA to some amazing first responders!

We received thousands of applications this holiday season to our Guardian Angel Program. After reading all of them we selected Tha, Cory, and Kayley to be the newest Guardian Angels.

Join us in thanking them!

Tha Vong Vue

Tha Vong’s Story:

“Policing is a selfless career choice. I didn’t choose this profession because of it’s incredible pay rate. I chose it because it was a calling.

A calling to be the change that I’d like to see. A calling for me to be the best officer that I can be to the community, the people I stop on the road, and a calling to the show our children that I am there to help, protect, and mentor them.

With Safe Life Defense Body Armor, I have one less thing to worry about when I call 10-41 (on duty). I won’t have to worry about my old vest failing on me when I’m out engaging with the community and a 10-33 (emergency) call comes in.

With Safe Life Defense, I can do my job with confidence knowing I am better protected.”

Cory Buckner

Cory’s Story:

“My partner and I spend a lot of our time just being out and visible in the community any time there is a community event.

We serve the most diverse population in all of the city and as such, occasionally find ourselves in conflict areas without even realizing it. Safe Life Defense Body Armor would allow us to be prepared for situations that we don’t even know we need to be prepared for.

While our first priority is always our own safety, sometimes we are forced to continue to provide care despite the danger to ourselves.”

Kayley Zion

Kayley’s Story:

“My community deserves the best protector they can have. My son deserves a mom. My department deserves a good officer. My fellow officers deserve the best backup possible.

Not saying I’m the best in any sense, but I want to spend every day trying to be. Not only for myself but for them.

My department is extremely small and it’s commonplace for us to be given expired or worn down body armor unless you can pay for it yourself.

I’ve spent thousands on uniforms and equipment expenses already and since I am a single mother to a great little man, I can’t afford to take on the expense of new armor as well.”

Thank you to this month’s Guardian Angels and everyone who applied! We enjoyed reading your submissions. We are impressed by your bravery and are honored to protect you with our armor.

Thank you Cedric!! Good to hear from you. I have fond memories of you and your family. I hope to see you again sometime! What an incredible experience!! We are so fortunate you were there to document the minute-by-minute new life and the dangers. As you said, the records of the Pryor horse events will never become documentaries to those of us who follow their activities so closely. We laugh, we cry, we get mad sometimes, we are always excited at each glimpse, and at the end we go to the depths of grief in our affection for these very special beings who truly, by love, have become members of our families!! I will always treasure the time with Chino and close-up photos I took on our trip with you. Thank you!!

I wish I would have known about your Guardian Angel Program. I have been trying to get my son a vest for over a year now. My sister and I tried Go-Fund-Me.. um we received $200, $100 was from my sister and the other $100 was from me (fail) My son is a Firefighter/Paramedic in Las Vegas. He came to me with concern due to all the craziness ..the past 9 months. He explained they have had guns pulled on them etc. My son just turned 24 last week.. he has been in this field since he was 15 years old. Started out in Explorers, then became the Chief of Explorers. He works Indian Springs/ FF, AMR, Medic West / Paramedic, Volunteers for NLV Burn Foundation ( Just did a toy drive today) Very dedicated to his Career. I love my son whole Hearted and only want peace of mind knowing he is somewhat safer out there. I find myself texting him in the wee hours of morning checking up.. I make him give me thumbs up just so I can relax. I actually had a vest in my cart.. problem is the money, which shouldn’t ever be a concern when it comes to your life. This shut down has put myself and Daughter out of work (courthouse). It’s been rough but keeping our heads above water. If you ever have any special Angels Help could you please notify me? I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you for all your company does .. keeping enforcement safe and others. You guys are amazing. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. God Bless

I would like to thank all those first responders that are truly out there to help people when the crap hits the fan, this country has been scared by the COVID-19 that has changed the way we now live & we’re going into 2021 with no change in sight – so I know first responders are being challenged in many ways by the bad guys who are more prepared then the good guys so in my opinion first responders must protect themselves as much as possible & the body armor presented here seems to be of high quality that i would be honored to feel safe knowing I’m using this high quality body armor by safe life.

I would loved to be entered in the monthly giveaway. I am an SRO for schools and protected our students and teachers is my life

  5. Tony Velasquez says:

We at Colorado SES Security Services also do our very best to protect and service the communities and their property’s . But not being granted the same acknowledgment as a first responder makes it harder to access and get some of the needed protection my officers need . As we are usually the first to respond and assess the situation s we are there for to begin with and gladly do . We assist local PD and fire as well as watch their backs as we should . So until security services become better regulated and we are acknowledged as first responders we need all the help we can get . As for the protective vest I have purchased I greatly appreciate all the support we have been given . Thanks , and Stay safe and happy ! Tony

Purchased Level IIIAi plus body armor and the multi threat body armor as well. Just recently ordered your 4 in 1 deferred payment plan package of body armors level IIIai plus. Great product so far.

    • Dawn C. says:

I plan on buying the level 3a plus concealed soon as I work as an Armed Security Guard. Just have to get more money. I made the mistake of buying a level 3a t-shirt vest on EBay. It is way too long in body as I take a small-short and the one I had purchased is more for a longer or regular type body. All legs here. So need to get one that fits properly.

  9. Bobby Mcdaniel says:

Very glad for the ones that won god put things in the right hands and for that my family and I are happy for everyone that won

  10. Esteban Cafe says:

15 years ago we bought our Marine son Dragon Skin body armor–$5K with a military discount. Yep, level 4. Heavy as, well, a dragon–over 40lbs. His platoon decided he should be first through any Falluja doorways; the idea of keeping him safe clearly backfired. He never took a round, but he still dragged that 40lbs around Afghanistan (2x) and Iraq (2x).

He’s now a cop in Maricopa County and is wearing that bogus flexible Lvl 3 stuff that wouldn’t turn a .22 from 100 yards. Scares the shiz out of us. So we’re going to keep applying in his name. Side note: in order to sell the DS he has to get FBI approval…he didn’t want that hassle, so he made a different decision about that to do with it…

He decided to see what it could stop. Yeah, it stopped everything, 9mm, 5.56, 30.06, etc., even a .300WinMag from 40 feet (I would not want to be on the other side of that shot–pushed into the vest a good 4″). However, the .338WM punched it like it was paper, shattering and scattering the carbon-aramid disks all over the inside of the carrier. Fun times.

I really need a happy holidays body armor Christmas present.. Noone around me understands anything at all thats going on and I feel so much pressure to do the best of my abilities to protect the people I love, and one of the HUGE problems for me, The only finances that I am able to earn is just barely enough to cover rent for our apartment that we live in, put food on the table, and get little toys and makeshift knick- knacks here and there… there’s no way I can afford one of these amazing pieces of body armor. What can I do please?

  12. Richard Burgess says:

Yes I do want new body armor mine is about 6 years old and needs to be replaced. I work on a Federal Contract in Tennessee stationed at the MEPS

  13. Richard I Messer says:

As a LEO, I will say the Safelife tactical belt is definitely one of the best investments I have been able to make! I’ve been dying to try your tactical vest. Unfortunately with some financial problems my wife and myself have recently run into make it impossible for me to be able to afford the best gear possible… I settle for my older, worn out Spartan Armor rig… It doesn’t offer the comforbility and full protection size wise I’m happy with… Like I said, I was very fortunate to be able to afford you belt… I hope someday I can afford your tactical body armor! You guys really do rock!!!

  14. John Hamelin says:

It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about those how take charges on saving a life of another and don’t ask for anything in return. The winner in all of this is the person how’s life was saved and hopefully they realize that, that person risk his or her life for them and some day do the same for someone they love or a stranger that there life is worth more then theirs. God Bless!

  15. James Burns says:

I have many first responder friends who need a vest. Unfortunately I can’t purchase for them as much as I would love to do so. I will research more about this program and enter for a chance to protect at least one of them! Thank you Safe Life for the Guardian Angle program!

  16. Ronald Denslow Jr says:

My coworker thinks I’m SUPERMAN because I confront Deer Hunters that are Trespassing on our Site, which I can’t mention because we Protect Copper Wire & Cable Products. Here at Allied Security Inc. We are unarmed Security but we take Risks everyday we are there. The people who have Won your Contest are well deserving people. Please continue to support Essential Personnel like myself.

  17. Nathan Troutman says:

I wish I could be a first responder or military but my heart problem has kept me out of all of that but doesn’t stop me from being a sheepdog! I am about the most unlucky person you could ever meet. I’ve probably been shot at and had more guns pulled on me then the majority of first responders lol. It started when I was only 8 the first time my family and I were shot at and that was just 3 months after my sister and myself were with a bank robber when she was arrested. I came from a great family and a god loving family but that doesn’t always keep you away from evil. I should probably write a book about all of my experiences lol

  18. Michael says:

I’m a security officer looking for a vest I’m looking but they are to much money. I pray be for I go to work .and happy to see my family when I come home.

  19. Gary King says:

Although I’m disappointed I wasn’t chosen, I do feel like those you gave the armor to really deserve it! I’m a volunteer deputy and pastor of a small church. If not chosen immediately, how long do you keep the applications?

  20. Luc Normand says:

I would love to win one as i work at the Ottawa (CA) Court House as a Security Guard and we deal with many offender that comes to our doors not knowing what they carry on them. I have an outdated vest and i don’t really feel safe with it.
Winning one from your company would make me more safe and confident in performing my duty.

  21. Russell J Atchison says:

When I joined the Medical Lake PD I had to buy at 1/2 the cost of the body armor . I have a relatively good set again /now. We only had 7 members in the dept.
    Best wish’s
