June 2020 Guardian Angels

Personal protective equipment - Firefighter

Safe Life Defense is proud to support First Responders by donating FREE Body Armor and KN95 Masks. Now more than ever, it is important to make sure that we all come together to shape America’s future.

Here are our June 2020 Guardian Angels recipients:

Dares Bryant

As a reserve police officer, my job is to assist certified police officers in any type of back up they need to keep our community safe.

I feel it’s also my responsibility to make sure I get, not only myself but, my fellow law enforcement officers home to our families at the end of each shift.

I was with the Highland Park Police department for 5 years and then I had to leave due to family issues.

Now that some time has passed and my family issues are stable I’m ready to return to the department.

They are allowing me to return but now I have to get back my equipment.

I have the majority of the things I need. Now I need a vest.

The one I have has been expired for years and with everything going on, I can’t keep wearing this. Every job I have involves me wearing a vest. Reserve officer, bar security, mall security, and close protection work.

William Long

I have said since the first day of being a firefighter, if it got to the point where I felt I needed to be armed or wear body armor, I would leave.

Since then, I have fallen in love with the job and the ability to help everyone I can. With the world the way it is, I feel like I am needed more than ever.

Body armor is expensive, and I need to save every dollar I can so I can keep providing my 10 year old with the best life he can have, keep food in his stomach, and a roof over his head.

When I growing up, I always wanted to be in the military. Having a kid in high school put a wrench in that.

The recruiters said if I gave my parental rights, I would be able to join. But I went to court to get every second I have with my child, so that wasn’t an option.

For months I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life that would matter to other people. I wanted something where I put other people’s needs and safety above my own.

Then I joined the fire department. I had found my calling and it made everything in my life seem to come together.

Rhodell Henry

I am a chief at a volunteer fire department.

I have provided services to my community as a volunteer for 6 + years while working 2 jobs to provide for myself and my wife.

I tend to put others before myself and this would be a great resource to have.

As a first responder, I tend to arrive on the scene before my ambulance and the police department.

Owning body armor I will be able to provide my services with more assurance that I have personal protection if I arrive on the scene before the police do.

To Dares, William, and Rhodell.

You are the type of people this country needs right now. You are selfless and want to help others above all else. Thank you so much.

Stay safe out there.
