At Safe Life Defense, we’re excited to continue our work with the Guardian Angel program this summer. Here are three new people who received a Body Armor donation from us!
#1 Jeremy Wicks | Pastor / Emergency Services Chaplain

As a police / fire chaplain to thirteen agencies I find myself in potentially dangerous situations on a regular basis. The addition of body armor to my “toolbox” would enable me to more effectively and safely interact with the public. Additionally, if I am wearing body armor the officer I’m riding / serving with does not have to worry as much about my safety and can better focus on the task at hand. I am no more deserving than others who serve our community. As I think about my volunteer service as a police / fire chaplain, I’m humbled to serve alongside the fine women and men of Mecosta County.
It truly is an honor to walk alongside our first responders, and to be there for those who are often overlooked by the communities they serve. I’m often called upon to assist at domestic violence situations, and other such events involving multiple parties, and as a civilian I’m not allowed to carry a firearm or other defensive weapons. Owning body armor would give me a sense of security on volatile scenes that I currently don’t have.
#2 Ashley Tyler | School Protection Officer

While wearing Safe Life Defense Body Armor I will be able to help others by having protection for myself. It will give me an advantage and a longer chance of survival for myself and the children and staff until backup arrives.
I have been a School Protections Officer for 3 years now. When I started I was given the bare minimum to protect our children and staff within our schools. I was given 2 polo shirts and training to do what City & County Officers do, just within the Schools instead of on the Streets. I personally had to buy pants, belt, boots, weapon/holster, magazines, ammo and handcuffs. I love my job and will do anything in my power to protect those kids and staff. I just feel that I would be more useful to them if I had protection for myself.
I understand the reason I was given as to why the Schools do not provide us with one (high turnover rate). But after 3 years of proving my dedication in protecting the children and staff I would have hoped that my life mattered as well and that they would provide me with protection. This is one reason I feel I would be a good recipient for one. Another HUGE reason is I have a Husband, a 14 year old daughter and 12 year old daughter that I want to come home to everyday. I want to be able to continue being there to guide them, teach them and support them as long as I can. I want them to be more at ease knowing that I’m am protected at work.
Owning body armor gives me a sense of comfort knowing I have a better chance of survival and a better chance of saving many innocent lives.
#3 Justin Shandorf | Senior Patrol Deputy Sheriff

I’m a Senior Patrol Deputy Sheriff, and I would like my agency to make the switch to Safe Life Defense Body Armor. I would use my body armor on duty for my job as a Deputy Sheriff. I believe Safe Life gear is the best in the business… It could be the difference between life and death and I want to be able to trust the gear I use.
