Help us congratulate these outstanding recipients and honor their selfless commitment to making our communities safer every day.
Through our Guardian Angel Program, we remain dedicated to protecting those who protect us. We are proud to continue donating FREE HG2 Concealable Level IIIA Multi-Threat Vests to individuals who are courageous and serve selflessly. HG2 Panels provide top-tier ballistic protection, designed to protect against common handgun and shotgun rounds, as well as strikes and slashes. These HG2 vests give our recipients the peace of mind they deserve in their critical roles.
Please help us congratulate Keeley, Michael, and Roper!

KEELEY FYLLING | Armed Security Officer
Wearing Safe Life Armor allows me to help others by giving me the protection and confidence to step into dangerous or high-risk situations. Whether it’s responding to emergencies, working in security, or volunteering in my community, the armor ensures that I can focus on keeping others safe without compromising my own safety. It helps me be a calm, prepared presence that people can rely on when things go wrong.
I should be selected as a recipient because I’m committed to using this armor to serve and protect others. Whether through my role in security, emergency response, or community involvement, I actively put myself in situations where safety gear is essential—not just for my own protection, but to ensure I can effectively help those in need. Receiving this armor would directly support my mission to be a strong, reliable presence for others during times of crisis or danger.
Owning body armor means more than just protection, it’s about responsibility, preparedness, and purpose. It represents my commitment to being ready to step in when others are in danger, to protect not just myself, but the people around me. It gives me the confidence to act with courage in unpredictable situations, and it symbolizes the role I take seriously: being someone others can count on when safety matters most.
I am a disabled navy veteran with not much financial means of purchasing body armor but needing body armor in a new employment position for armed security which would help me further my job performance and help protect me while I protect others.

MICHAEL MARSHALL | Security Officer
As a security professional and someone dedicated to serving my community, having reliable body armor would allow me to safely step into dangerous situations where others may hesitate. In high-risk moments; whether protecting the public during an emergency, assisting first responders, or helping those in need, body armor would give me the confidence and protection to stay focused on others rather than my own safety. With the added security, I can respond quickly to incidents, provide aid, and de-escalate threats, knowing I have the tools to make a difference without becoming a liability myself.
This gear would not only protect me but also empower me to better protect and help the people I serve every day. I believe I should be selected because I dedicate myself to protecting others every day. Safe Life Defense body armor would let me respond to threats with confidence, stay safe, and focus on helping those who need it most. I will also be able to take on more jobs that require that I provide myself with my own armor.
Owning body armor means I can protect others without becoming a victim myself. Often times when helping we can become hyper-focused on the people who need our help and not always operating with a partner, Safe Life Defense would be able to protect me if anything were to arise. Body Armor also will provide my family with peace of mind, knowing I am protected while I protect others.

ROPER ELLISON | Law Enforcement Officer
Receiving this body armor would greatly enhance my ability to serve and protect others both in uniform and in plainclothes roles. As a Narcotics Detective and member of a tactical operations team, I’m routinely involved in high-risk scenarios including warrant services, narcotics investigations, and un-uniformed surveillance. Having dependable body armor provides the protection necessary to perform these duties safely and effectively, especially in unpredictable environments.
In addition to my primary role, I serve as a firearms instructor for my agency. I frequently dedicate my personal time free of charge and often while off duty to offer extra training to fellow law enforcement officers. I also extend that same commitment to the community by volunteering with the local school district’s Guardian program, helping train those responsible for protecting students and staff. I also volunteer with my former high school’s criminal justice team, assisting students in various law enforcement-based competitions and events as they compete against other schools. It’s an opportunity I value deeply, as it allows me to give back and help shape the next generation of future officers and leaders.
By ensuring my own safety through reliable body armor, I’m better equipped to remain present and effective for the people who rely on me whether that’s a fellow deputy in a dangerous situation, a parent entrusting their child’s safety to the Guardian program, or a new officer learning critical firearm skills. Unfortunately, my current issued body armor is both expired and misfitting, which limits its protective capability. Receiving updated, properly fitted armor would significantly improve my readiness, comfort, and long-term safety.
I serve in a small rural county where law enforcement resources are extremely limited, and funding for updated equipment especially quality body armor is often out of reach. In addition to my primary duties as a Narcotics Detective and tactical operator, I also serve as a Field Training Supervisor, TCOLE-certified instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Less-Lethal Instructor. These roles require me to mentor and develop new deputies, provide critical training, and ensure they are prepared to serve the community safely and effectively. Despite working in a severely underfunded and underpaid environment, I continue to donate my personal time at no cost to provide extra training because I fully understand the financial challenges associated with training and law enforcement. Often, I perform these duties while wearing my expired, misfitting armor that no longer meets current protection standards. I am committed to providing the highest level of training and leadership, and I hold myself to the same standard by seeking the best equipment to stay protected.
Being selected to receive updated, properly fitted body armor would not only improve my safety but also enhance my ability to lead, train, and protect others in a community that relies heavily on dedicated law enforcement professionals, but it would also give my mother peace of mind knowing I am better protected while serving.
I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and my career in law enforcement.
I’m a 30-year-old father of two, proudly serving in my hometown where I was born and raised because I believe in making a difference where it matters most: at home. I chose to stay here to help better my community from within, and within that same community are my two greatest reasons for staying safe my children. I’m a single father, and I’m incredibly thankful that I’ve made it home to them every day, and I intend to continue doing so.
Over the course of my seven years in law enforcement, I’ve moved quickly through the ranks from Patrol Deputy to Corporal, Sergeant, Administration, and now Narcotics Detective a position that’s been my lifelong dream. Short of becoming Sheriff one day, I aspire to be the youngest to ever serve in that role in my county.
Along the way, I’ve been honored to receive multiple life-saving awards, the Deputy of the Year award, and the highest honors in Texas law enforcement: the Medal of Valor. We all know this job comes with risks, and I’ve never taken that lightly. But with the right equipment, training, and mindset, I’ve always stood ready to face those risks head-on because the people we serve deserve nothing less. As a father, I don’t take safety for granted. And knowing that someone out there is willing to invest in my safety means more than you might realize not just to me, but to the two young lives that depend on me making it home every night. Throughout my career, I’ve worn the same issued body armor from day one. While it will be a bittersweet moment to finally retire it, I believe that after everything it’s seen and protected me through, it’s more than earned its retirement.
I’d like to sincerely thank you for not only allowing me the opportunity to apply, but also for what you do for officers and first responders across the country. Donating protective gear to those in need is a truly admirable act, and I will continue teaching my children the value of good deeds like the ones you’re living out every day.
