Kara’s story (submitted by her husband): Kara responds to various types of calls for service which includes shootings and stabbings. Salisbury, MD is known to have high violent crime rates. She is very passionate about her work, and is not one to shy away from danger. She also has four children and a husband at home that depend on her very much and she is the glue that holds us together. Her owning this body armor means she will a have an added advantage, an ability to perform her duties, and still come home to us.

Carlos’ story: I’ve been a security guard for 20 years. I love my job and the people I protect make me want to do the best I can. A recipient is a person that goes above and beyond his call of duty and that’s me. I will keep being the best that I can be as a security guard. Owing body armor in these times is the difference between life and death. Having it on gives me an advantage that the bad guy does not know I have. Choosing me would mean so much to me and my family. It would show that I have accomplished something good and my family can be proud of me.
