BRIAN RICHARDSON | Police Officer/SRO

I’m a man who wears many hats within the community and I would like to say within the world. From Provide protection and safety at our schools to protecting souls in the kingdom of God as a pastor, I understand the importance of body armor (natural and spiritual). I will be able to help others by continuing to provide adequate protection and support to the community through security services, firearms training at the range, coaching Highschool football, pastor my church, providing for my family and safely being a police officer. Body armor will save my life from death or serious injury so I can be best help in my community with proper protection.

I’m a father of 4 children and have a wife (family of 6). I’m a young pastor of a small church in Louisville KY and also a police officer, security guard, and coach for the local school district. I sacrifice my time, money, body to take care of my parishioners, family and job duties. I’ve worked 4 jobs at one time to make ends meet for my small church and household. This at times lead to sleeping in my car just to make my next shift. In my off duty job I have no body armor due to my job issued body armor that per policy can only be used for my SRO Job. This puts me in great danger when working off duty. I use my personal vehicle as my church vehicle to pick up members and visitors around the city. I need protection but no funds to purchase vest.

Being an officer I understand the importance of body armor. I had an officer shot and killed last year who wasn’t wearing body armor. I also had another officer who works in my city, and few years ago his body armor saved his life. With these two examples, body armor is the difference between life and death. With armor, I can be protected and safe so I can continue to be here while healthy to continue the work of Jesus, raise my family, coach my students and be a positive impact in the world. I sacrifice so much for ministry and work to provide for others and don’t think my safety and health should be sacrificed for lacking funds. It scares me to go to work everyday at my security job with no armor. My police department has issued body armor, but per policy it can only be used during shift and not for any outside agency work. I appreciate what you all do with Guardian Angel program. I feel like this was God lead. I’ve been on your website multiple times and watching countless videos and tonight I was “window shopping” again about my desire to have body armor but even with the discount deals I can’t afford this protection.

MEYLEENG RODRIGUES CARO | Deputy Sheriff

While I’m not always on duty, I am always mandated and carry my weapon as part of my responsibility as a Deputy. Whether I’m working or spending time with my children, the reality is that I am always in a position where I may be called to act. Having my own body armor would give me the reassurance that I am better prepared to protect not only myself, but also those around me—my fellow officers, my community, and most importantly, my family. In an unpredictable world, being equipped with the right gear could make all the difference in a critical moment.

I am a dedicated and passionate public servant who truly cares about the people I protect. I take pride in stepping up, even in difficult or uncertain situations. Sometimes that means acting on instinct—because every second matters. As a Deputy, I have many different responsibilities, from peacekeeper to counselor to first responder, often for pay that doesn’t reflect the weight of those roles. Financially, I simply cannot afford the cost of reliable body armor on my own, especially as a single mother of three. Being selected for this program would be a huge blessing—not just for me, but for my children, who deserve to feel secure knowing I’m protected and coming home safe.

To me, owning body armor represents peace of mind, safety, and strength. I know no vest is 100% guaranteed protection, but it adds a crucial layer of security in a dangerous and often unpredictable line of work. Being able to own my own vest would be incredible—not only because I truly need it, but because it’s something I could never afford on my own. As a single mom supporting three children, every dollar counts, and this kind of life-saving equipment just isn’t within reach. I want to say how grateful I am for programs like this. I actually came across it randomly while checking my email, and I was struck by the fact that a for-profit company would give back like this. That speaks volumes about your values, and it means a lot to know there are organizations out there that truly care. Whether I’m selected or not, thank you for what you’re doing for those of us on the front lines.

NICOLE BRECTO | Deputy Sheriff

Wearing Safe Life Defense Body Armor will allow me to perform my duties with greater confidence and peace of mind, knowing I have an added layer of protection. I treat every individual in custody (AIC) with respect and dignity, regardless of their situation. Having this vest isn’t just about my safety—it allows me to stay calm, present, and fully focused on de-escalating situations, helping my fellow officers, and treating AICs humanely. When I feel protected, I can better protect others. That security radiates into my actions, benefiting my coworkers, the people we supervise, and the community as a whole.

Being selected would mean the world to me—not just as an officer, but as a mother. It would mean I can go to work each day knowing I’m doing everything I can to make it back home safely to my son. Every shift carries risk, and not being issued a vest during probation adds unnecessary stress. Receiving this body armor would not only increase my physical safety, it would also give me peace of mind and help me stay mission-focused. I would be honored and deeply grateful for the support—this opportunity would be life-changing.

On March 4th, 2025, I was sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff—a moment that marked the realization of a lifelong dream. Like all new deputies, I began my journey in the jail, and due to department policy, I won’t be issued a vest until my 18-month probation ends. Yet the risks are real from day one. Owning my own body armor would give me an extra measure of security in an unpredictable environment. But it also means something more: it’s a symbol of my commitment to serve with integrity, which allows me to be a role model for my son.
