April 2026 Guardian Angel Winners

This April we are proud to continue our mission to equip people, who serve and protect, with life-saving body armor through our Guardian Angel Program. Our Guardian Angel Program exists to support the individuals who selflessly protect their families, communities, and country, ensuring they have access to the protection they deserve.

We will continue donating FREE HG2 Concealable Level IIIA Multi-Threat Vests to individuals who try to go above and beyond to protect and serve. These HG2 Panels provide top-tier ballistic protection, designed to protect against common handgun and shotgun rounds, as well as strikes and slashes. Please help us congratulate the winners for April 2026 and recognize the important work they do to keep their communities safe. We are proud to support them as we look towards supporting more deserving individuals throughout the year! If you would like to submit your application click here!

KENNETH POLLICH | Parole Agent

Wearing Safe Life Defense body armor would allow me to carry out my duties as a parole agent with greater confidence and security. My job requires me to meet with violent offenders recently released from prison, conduct home visits, verify compliance, and ensure public safety, often alone and in environments that can become unpredictable very quickly. With reliable protection from you guys, I can remain focused on both enforcement and rehabilitation, providing support to parolees who are trying to reintegrate into society while ensuring the safety of the communities they return to. Body armor would help me stay calm and prepared during high-risk interactions, which ultimately allows me to better protect the public, assist the individuals under my supervision, and respond effectively in any situation that arises.

I believe I should be selected because the nature of my work places me at elevated, daily risk with very limited support. I serve in one of the largest counties in the nation, working completely alone and often without reliable radio communication or immediate access to backup. When situations become dangerous, assistance can take time to arrive. Despite these challenges, I remain committed to public safety, rehabilitation, and helping individuals transition into becoming law abiding, productive members of society. With nine years in law enforcement, I have dedicated my career to service and safety, and I strive to come home safely to my wife and four daughters every day. Receiving body armor through this program would directly enhance my safety and support the work I do to protect others.

Owning body armor means peace of mind, not only for myself, but for my family. As someone who meets with violent offenders alone and enters homes without a partner, the risk level is significant. Reliable protection provides a crucial layer of security when circumstances can shift in a matter of seconds. To me, body armor represents the ability to perform my job confidently, responsibly, and professionally while reducing the dangers associated with working solo. More importantly, it represents the chance to return home safely to my wife and my four daughters, who rely on me not just as a provider, but as a husband and father.

I am deeply grateful for programs like the Guardian Angel initiative that recognize the unique challenges faced by law enforcement professionals, especially those of us who operate alone. My goal every day is to balance accountability with compassion, holding individuals to the conditions of their parole while also offering them the support and resources necessary to succeed. Enhanced personal safety through high quality body armor would allow me to continue fulfilling this mission while reducing the dangers inherent in my role. Thank you for considering my request and for your ongoing commitment to protecting those who protect others.

MATTHEW ALMARAZ | Security Officer

Wearing this armor would allow me to respond to high-risk situations with confidence, knowing I have a layer of protection. I work in security and public safety, and I regularly interact with the community in environments where quick, calm, and safe intervention can make a difference. By being protected, I can focus on helping others whether it’s preventing conflict, assisting someone in distress, or simply being a calm, capable presence without putting my life at unnecessary risk.

I’m a father of three young children, and I want to ensure that I am able to come home safely to them every day. I work in security and public safety in San Antonio and Austin, often in unpredictable situations, and I currently cannot afford a high-quality vest on my own. Receiving this armor would significantly increase my ability to stay safe while protecting others, giving me the peace of mind to perform my duties effectively. I take safety, responsibility, and training seriously, and I would honor the vest by using it responsibly in the field.

Owning body armor means being able to protect my life while protecting others. It’s more than equipment, it is a responsibility to my family, my community, and myself. For me, it represents the chance to go into challenging situations with confidence, reduce the risk of serious injury, and ensure that I can be there for my kids, my family, and anyone I’m tasked with safeguarding.

I understand the seriousness and responsibility that comes with wearing body armor. I have completed Level 3 and Level 4 Personal Protection Officer training, and I continue to seek ways to improve my skills and serve my community effectively. I promise to use this vest with integrity, always putting safety and professional responsibility first.

NICHOLAS CREWEY | Paramedic

I live and work in a small rural county with limited law enforcement. As a full time paramedic we respond to situations that are not safe for us. Law Enforcement of a night is almost non existent. We have no troopers on after midnight, at most one deputy on a good night, and one city officer. There has been several occasions where the scene has become unsafe for us to be there due to a combative patient. A few of these times the have been armed. Fortunately we have been able to retreat out of these situations with out injury.

Not only am I a full-time paramedic I am also a field supervisor and training Officer. I will not put my crews in any position that I wouldn’t be in. Many times I will go instead of them to keep them safe. When a crew calls with a concern even I will always come in to make sure they are safe.

For someone in my position, owning the right body armor isn’t really about gear. I feel it’s about responsibility, continuity, and getting home to my family who I love very much. Owning body armor gives me peace of mind being able to come to work and make it back home to my daughter and my soon to be here son. This would make my job a little bit easier knowing I am safer.

I’d like to thank the Safe Life Defense team for the opportunity to take part in this program. I know you probably go through thousands of these applications a month but if I am picked I know I can be an excellent and upstanding representative for your line of body armor.

Thank you once again for investing in our safety and for standing behind the men and women of those who serve.
